The Secret of Happiness in Marriage (Zacharias T. Fomum)
What is the secret of happiness in marriage?
It is to be rapturously caught up with Jesus in a love affair, so that no other love means much, so that no other love has power to make you gain anything or lose anything.
The secret of happiness in marriage is to be so much in love with Jesus that no other love has power to make you unhappy.
The secret of happiness in marriage is to be so satisfied in Jesus that your husband has no power to make you unhappy.
The secret of happiness in marriage is to be so fulfilled in Jesus that your wife has no power to make you unhappy. That is what the Lord told me in Brazzaville.
If you are not totally in love with Jesus, you will be in love with the world.
If you are not caught up with Jesus, you will be caught up with the world.
The secret of happiness in marriage is to be so much in love with Jesus that there is nothing your wife can add or subtract from it.
It is to be so caught up with Jesus that Jesus satisfies everything in you.
It is to be so possessed by the love of Jesus that He satisfies everything in you.
It is for Jesus to be your total joy, your total satisfaction, your total ecstasy, your total bliss, so that you endure everything because of Jesus, you endure your partner because of Jesus, regardless of what the partner may become or has become.
The secret of happiness in life is to be totally enraptured with the love of Jesus, so that if left alone just with Him, that would be the best thing.
It is to be so caught up with Jesus that Jesus has satisfied every inch of your body, such that there is nothing anyone else can give you, so that anyone else becomes a cross that you bear because of Jesus.
Jesus has satisfied so much that no one else and nothing else matters; such that you bear everyone else because of Jesus, because if Jesus has not satisfied your all, you will not find your total satisfaction in another. If Jesus has not become your satisfaction, you will know no satisfaction in another. Your only sigh will be because you want Jesus back and you will not sigh because your partner is absent. Your only anguish will be the anguish of the absence of Jesus, and you will know no anguish because your partner is absent. Jesus has become your only joy.
For a girl in that condition, if a husband comes, she is alright with him. If a husband does not come, she is alright without him. A married man in that condition is such that if his wife treats him well, he is alright. If his wife treats him badly, he is alright.
When there is only one music that makes sense,
when in all the work you are doing you have only one sigh,
when all faces are ugly and only one is beautiful,
when Jesus has become the end of your desires,
when Jesus has become the consummation of all your passion,
when Jesus has become the height of your promotions,
when Jesus has become the crowning award of your life,
then you will know perfect happiness in marriage because you will have nothing to complain about, nothing to miss.
A well-fed man, fed with top quality food, does not bother about food any more - whether it is good or bad, set on a floating table or on the ground, he is untouched.
That is what was in the heart of God when He said we were to love God with all of our hearts and spirits and souls and strength, so that we come to ecstasy, so that all else is on the periphery, with no power to hurt or make happy.
The extent to which you know such love for God is the extent to which you will be fulfilled in marriage.
The extent to which you do not know it is the extent to which you will expect from a man what he cannot be and what he cannot give.
Only God can satisfy a woman, because she was made in the image of God - a man cannot.
Only God can satisfy a man, because he was made in the image of God - a woman cannot.
If the woman seeks satisfaction in a man, she will be frustrated. She was made in the image of God. If you are looking for your satisfaction in a man, you will never find it.
Only the One in whose image you were created can bring you to your bliss.
The extent to which you know Him as your bliss will be the extent to which you know fulfilment in marriage.
The extent to which your heart is divided is the extent to which you will also be unfulfilled, in spite of whom you married.
It is not a tall or short, fat or thin, educated or uneducated woman that can fill that God-shaped vacuum.
There is this God-created vacuum which He alone can fill. The man who makes God his satisfaction will be fulfilled by God and fulfilled only by God.
All the others will complain until they die, regardless of what the partner is or does.
