The picture that the Bible paints of what should be the sexual life of those who are reconciled to God through the Lord Jesus Christ is that of a relationship which can be called super sex. It is something totally satisfying and totally fulfilling.
The Bible says,
“Let your fountain be blessed, and rejoice in the wife of your youth, a lovely hind, a graceful doe. Let her affection fill you at all times with delight, be infatuated always with her love” (Proverbs 5:18-19).
“You have ravished my heart, my sister, my bride, you have ravished my heart with a glance of your eyes, with one jewel of your necklace. How sweet is your love, my sister, my bride! How much better is your love than wine, and the fragrance of your oils than any spices!” (Song of Solomon 4:9-10).
In the sexual love presented in the Bible, a man said this of his bride :
“How graceful are your feet in sandals, O queenly maiden ! Your rounded thighs are like jewels, the works of a master hand. Your navel is a rounded bowl that never lacks mixed wine. Your belly is a heap of wheat, encircled with lilies. Your two breasts are like two fawns, twins of a gazelle. Your neck is like an ivory tower. Your eyes are pools in Heshbon, by the gate of Bathrabbim Your nose is like a tower of Lebanon, overlooking Damascus. Your head crowns you like Carmel, and your flowing locks are like purple; a king is held captive in the tresses. How fair and pleasant you are, O loved one, delectable maiden! You are stately as a palm tree, and your breasts are like its clusters. I say I will climb the palm tree and lay hold of its branches. Oh, may your breasts be like clusters of the vine, and the scent of your breath like apples, and your kisses like the best wine that goes down smoothly, gliding over lips and teeth” (Song of Solomon 7:1-9).
And the bride said the following of her man,
“My beloved is all radiant and ruddy, distinguished among ten thousand. His head is the finest gold; his locks are wavy, black as a raven. His eyes are like doves beside springs of water, bathed in milk, fitly set. His cheeks are like beds of spices, yielding fragrance. His lips are lilies, distilling liquid myrrh. His arms are rounded gold set with jewels. His body is ivory work, encrusted with sapphires. His legs are alabaster columns, set upon bases of gold. His appearance is like Lebanon, choice as the cedars. His speech is most sweet, and he is altogether desirable. This is my beloved and this is my friend, O daughters of Jerusalem (Oh daughters of Cameroon) (Song of Solomon 5:10-16).
The unfaithful wife said to the fool she was trapping, after she had seized and kissed him,
“I had to offer sacrifices, and today I have paid my vows, so now I have come out to meet you, to seek you eagerly, and I have found you. I have decked my couch with coverings, coloured spreads of Egyptian linen; I have perfumed my bed with myrrh, aloes, and cinnamon. Come, let us take our fill of love till morning; let us delight ourselves with love” (Proverbs 7:13-18).
Why does the wife not do the same to her husband ? Why must it be the seducer who puts up an excellent performance? Is that not one reason why they win ? Even the most brutal man is tender and soft to a girl he is dating.
-
He speaks softly to her.
-
He waits on her.
-
He is understanding.
-
He is patient.
-
He ignores her faults.
-
He lavishes praises on her.
-
He does everything to give her all she wants.
-
He does not shout at her, etc.
Why must the husband not offer this same treatment to his wife and more ? It could transform a marriage.
Will you do something about it ?
With a new heart from God and the Holy Spirit with you, and Jesus guiding and enabling you, you can do it. God bless you!
