You must labour with a great sense of urgency. Decide that you will build the kingdom of God with a great sense of urgency. Time is against us.
It is already nearly two thousand years since the Lord gave the command that the gospel of the kingdom should be preached to all nations as a witness. The truth is that there are three billion people on planet Earth who are yet to be effectively reached with the Good News of Jesus Christ. Less than half of the people in the world have heard the gospel preached once! Workers are in short supply. Many young men are dreaming about serving the Lord in the future, but they are wasting the moment.
They are wasting time and time is a very perishable commodity. This means that any year, month, week, day, hour, minute or second not invested in doing that one thing which you must do to pull down the kingdom of Satan and build the kingdom of God, is lost forever. There is no time to waste. Every second must be redeemed. Serious men must abandon all trifles. There is fierce war in progress. Which soldier on active duty gets entangled in civilian pursuits?
All consecrated believers must abandon all the passing pleasures of this age. They must stop making life a vacation. Vacations are forfeited during times of war. It is a tragedy that Christians are the only ones who can afford to go on holiday during fierce conflict. They arrange pleasure parties, sleep, eat and relax while the enemy is making serious inroads into territory that was won by the Man of Sorrow on the Cross.
In countries that have been at war for years, they practise what is called “austerity or war budgets.” They spend only on the absolute necessities while investing all the rest in the war. This ought to be the Christian attitude. That ought to be your attitude. That ought to be my attitude. It was certainly the attitude of the Man of Sorrow who had nowhere to lay His head. It was certainly the attitude of the One who said,
“Do you not say, ‘There are yet four months, then comes the harvest?’ l tell you, lift up your eyes, and see how the fields are already white for harvest. He who reaps receives wages and gathers fruit for eternal life, so that the sower and reaper may rejoice together.” (John 4:35-36).
These are crises times. The harvest is ready. What is not harvested now will be lost. The “musts” of today will not become the “musts” of tomorrow. Anything that ought to be done today but is not done is lost. Today is for the “musts” of today and God has pre-prepared the “musts” of tomorrow. Only a great sense of urgency will cause you to labour today with all your might so that the “musts” of today are accomplished and you are ready for the “musts” of tomorrow. God bless you.
